
ANDREW F0RTUNA is certified dietary educator and neuro-linguistics practitioner, currently completing his last term of a five-year BSc (Hons) degree in Nutrition Science validated by Middlesex University UK, as well as a Nutritional Therapy clinical practice diploma accredited by the Nutritional Therapy Education Commission following UK National Occupation Standards in Nutritional Therapy. He will attain the title of Registered Nutritionist in Jan 2022. He has dedicated his last few years to keeping up to date with the latest advances in nutrition science, enabling him to understand the heterogenous and complex nature of the pathogenesis of various modern-day chronic diseases by embracing a systems biology based approach. He hopes to make a make a significant contribution to the health and wellbeing of his community in the near future.
DIETARY EDUCATION Nutrition science is ever changing and a practitioner requires to be up to date with the latest advances in nutrition science for the safety of their clients. Dietary educators are aware that each individual is unique and suggest nutrition and lifestyle programmes to suit their preferences rather than a ‘one size fits all’ approach. They will also frequently encourage clients to liase with their a medical professional and will assist clients to communicate with other healthcare professionals involved in the client’s care to explain any dietary and lifestyle programme that has been provided if required. Dietary educators utilise the latest nutrition science in the promotion of health, peak performance and care. We use use professional HIPPA compliant dietary analysis software to identify potential nutritional imbalances and understand how these may contribute to an individual’s symptoms and health concerns. We also embrace GDPR regulations for proper legal safekeeping and use of client information as data controllers / processors. This approach allows them to work with individuals to support their health goals, optimise health, as well as those looking to support their mental and immune wellbeing. Dietary suggestions and bespoke meal plans are based on UK dietary guidelines, but vary depending on the individual’s nutrition status, health questionnaire and goals. They never suggest dietary plans as a replacement for medical advice and always refer any client with ‘red flag’ signs or symptoms to their medical professional.

Nutritional Therapy is the application of the very latest nutrition science in the promotion of health, peak performance and individual care. Nutritional Therapists use a wide range of evidence-based skills developed by the Institute of Functional Medicine, as well as a wide variety of functional laboratory analysis, such as stool and gut assays, to assess and identify potential nutritional imbalances and understand how these may contribute to an individual’s symptoms and health concerns. This approach allows them to support clients to address identified nutritional imbalances and help support the body towards maintaining health and their desired goals. Nutritional Therapy is recognised as an alternative medicine, and may be suitable for individuals with chronic conditions, as well as those looking for support to enhance their health and wellbeing. To become a nutritional therapist, it is essential to have a very strong background in nutrition science, a deep understanding of the human anatomy and physiology, many hours of supervised clinical practice with real clients living with a wide range of complex nutrition and health-related disorders whilst following practice guidelines by the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). The CNHC hold an accredited register of qualified nutritional therapists and registered nutritionists, who in turn are regulated by the UK Professional Standards Authority responsible to the UK Parliament. Nutritional Therapists also comply with General Data Protection Regulations, as well as current COVID19 working guidelines for healthcare professionals.
