Why work with me?

Working with me is a guarantee that you are consulting with a clinically-trained nutritional professional with a strong academic background (MSc & BSc Hons),locally licensed & regulated by the OFT, and professionally insured practitioner, who is qualified in blood chemistry analysis and other lab testing techniques, with many years clinical experience successfully supporting clients with a variety of ‘chronic’ health conditions. Consultations generally include:

– Detailed analysis of your dietary intake
– Detailed medical and case health analysis using the functional medicine model
– Recording signs and symptoms
– Aims to identify the root causes of your illness
– Discuss a strategy for health – personalised, simple, sustainable advice for diet and lifestyle changes; taking into consideration your nutritional requirements and personal circumstances.
– The recommendation of functional lab tests if required, will help ascertain any suspected underlying imbalances contributing to your symptoms
– May include referral to other healthcare practitioners to work alongside my recommendations
ie, a doctor, counsellor, or personal trainer where necessary.

After the consultation
Once I have analysed your case history, I will recommend your health support and optimisation plan, which will include a therapeutic nutrition programme, personalised dietary and lifestyle recommendations, a meal plan, recipes, regular follow-ups, and a recommended supplement regime to help you heal and thrive. I always aim to get this to you within 5 working days of the consultation.

Therefore, by choosing complementary health practitioners registered with the CNHC you can be confident that they are properly qualified and insured.
Code of Conduct, Ethics and Performance
The CNHC’s Code of Conduct, Ethics and Performance describes the standards of conduct, ethics and performance expected of all complementary health practitioners on the CNHC Register. All registrants must agree to comply with the Code before their name is added to the CNHC Register.

CNHC’s register is approved as an Accredited Register by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care, a body accountable to Parliament. This provides additional assurance that CNHC registrants meet UK-wide standards of patient safety and service quality.

REGULATORY BODIES

NUTRITIONAL THERAPIST VS DIETICIAN
Nutritional Therapists require an accredited minimum degree and clinical traiing in nutrition. They provide personalised advice tailored to an individual’s lifestyle, often using a “functional medicine” approach that addresses underlying causes of health issues. Dietitians complete an accredited degree in dietetics or a related field, which includes extensive clinical training. Their education equips them to work within the NHS, private practice, and community health settings.

What is Nutritional Therapy?
NT is the application of nutrition and lifestyle medicine sciences in the promotion of health, peak performance and individual care based around the Functional Medicine health model. Registered NT Practitioners assess and identify potential nutritional, genetic, epigenetic, dietary and lab biomarker imbalances to understand how these may contributing to a person’s symptoms, health concerns or to prevent disease onset via individualised recommendations. My clinical training allows me to understand and explain the root causes of your symptoms or medicaly diagnosed conditions. I have worked with many clients (see testimonials) experiencing a wide range of complex health conditions on my longer-term NT programmes, with significant improvements in symptoms and quality of life, and even reversal of diagnosed conditions.
Personalised recommendations
By assessing individualised risk factors, biochemical imbalances, as well as established and novel biomarkers which may be provide clues as to what these imbalances may be on each individual, will help identify what your unique imbalances, triggers and root causes for your ill-health may be, hence why nutrition and lifestyle recommendations HAS to be personalised to each individual. You cannot use the same approach for everyone, as doing could result in poor outcomes, ineffective and even lead to adverse effects, especially if prescribed any medications.

Nutritional Therapy (NT) programmes
Although my NT programmes are ideal to improve or optimise any aspect of your health, they are especially suited for preventing or resolving complex health conditions which have not found any improvement or resolution with other forms of healthcare support. They can also serve as high-quality nutrition courses which can be personalised to your goals, preferences or health conditions(s).

Cholecystitis, overweight, pre-diabetes, knee pain, hot flushes, NAFLD, renal angiomylolipoma

In just under two years, Andrew positively impacted my gallbladder hip & knee pain related to excess weight, menopausal hot flushes, pre-diabetes, NAFLD & renal angiomyolipoma. Blood sugar levels are now optimal. Ultrasound imaging shows mild improvement of the fatty liver & renal angiomyolipoma. Gallbladder, hip & knee pain disappeared as swiftly as the kilos. Hot flushes practically non-existent. Andrew's advice in respect of personliased nutrition together with gentle exercise resulted in a weight loss of 12kg within the first six months under his care which has mostly been sustained. Andrew is direct and honest. He is superbly well qualified, researched and informed and is able to eloquently translate his knowledge into compelling tailor-made advice and guidance. For those of you who, like me, may have thought that conventional medicine is the only way to heal your body, think again. It is true that nutritional therapy will take effort, commitment and motivation on your part. It is not easy or a quick fix, but the results can be beyond what you ever thought possible, simply because Andrew knows exactly what he is doing. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending him

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (constipation dominant)

“I have been dealing with IBS for over twenty years and have suffered with chronic constipation, food intolerances, chronic gut pains, muscle & bone aches and pains, pins & needles on my extremities, excessive bloating & gas. I had seen a lot of specialists throughout the years but only helped a little bit, which was affecting my mental wellbeing. Although a bit skeptical at first, I came to see Andrew as last resort due to positive experiences from Facebook. The transformation has been life-changing to the point that most of my gut symptoms have resolved, regular bowel movements, no pins & needles, feeling much more energetic, and simply doing things I just could not do before. My GP and gastroenterologist are very pleased and encouraged me to continue Andrew’s recommendations. Thank Andrew for your help, really appreciated.”

Chronic constipation

I have attended Mr. Fortuna's clinic on several occasions and I have found him to be very attentive and caring.  He tries hard to understand your symptoms and find a solution to your problem. His advice was very useful and I won't hesitate to consult him in future for further assistance if required.

Nature Therapy

Our Nature experience was brilliant from start to finish. Andrew is very knowledgeable on the subject and he is keen to share his passion. He took took us to excellent locations, even the coffee stops.

Eczema

After years of poor diet and a period of stress, I had a break out of eczema. 'Chronic' was the prognosis of more than one doctor but for all their knowledge, the one thing they couldn't give me is time often given in a rush. A local dermatologist had no long-term solutions. But after some intelligent analysis from Andrew the issue improved. 5 months later, I'm sold on a new, healthier lifestyle. Andrew offered a break from all of that by taking a deep-dive into my health, before crashing out of the surface clasping a pearl - the solution. A thorough questionnaire and a blood test presented him with a complete picture of my health, for which he tailored dietary and lifestyle recommendations...that worked! With Andrew, you can be sure his mind isn't on the next patient. If I had to describe Andrew's service in three words: holistic, competent, slick. He helped me get on top of a skin-issue by looking at the big picture of my health, instead of plastering the cracks - and above all, through an exceptional attention to detail that you won't get from any GP. I can't recommend him highly enough and  his long-term programmes!

Chronic migraines, fatigue, bloating

Thanks Andrew, your help and guidance has been the much needed breakthrough in enabling me to be more disciplined and informed with my health. It has given me new hope and I will enter the new year feeling positive and determined to keep up with my new healthy habits

Pat

Type 2 Diabetes

Very thorough and easy to follow. Proud to be associated with you. I would recommend you to anyone. Eternally grateful for keeping my diabetes in check

Digestion, blood pressure, hypothyroidism, overweight

I thought that because I was getting older, weight gain was something I had to accept. I was also having problems with my digestive system, blood pressure, hypothyroidism and lack of sleep. But then, I met Andrew, a true professional, who is teaching me to make small adjustments in my eating habits. A lifestyle plan, not a diet, which is easy to follow, keeps the weight off and helps with my health problems. Andrew, I cannot thank you enough. This is life changing, and I am over the moon with my progress. With your motivation and guidance, I am happpier, healthier, very positive and losing weight. I am very grateful for your support. Thank you.
