PREDIABETES / DIABETES
MULTI SESSIONS / 3 or 6 MONTHS
Functional medicine can improve prediabetes and type 2 diabetes by addressing the individual root drivers of blood sugar dysregulation rather than focusing solely on symptom control. This personalised approach looks at various aspects of your metabolism that may be correcting, not just diet. By identifying and correcting underlying imbalances unique to the individual, functional medicine supports improved glucose control, enhanced insulin sensitivity and more sustainable long-term metabolic health, often reducing reliance on escalating medication over time.

HIPPOCRATES
Identifying your root causes
From a functional medicine perspective, blood glucose control is fundamental to long-term health because it reflects the balance of insulin sensitivity, metabolic function, inflammation and hormonal regulation. When blood sugar remains elevated over time, it contributes to widespread cellular damage, oxidative stress and chronic low-grade inflammation, all of which accelerate the development of cardiometabolic disease, cognitive decline and neurodegeneration. Addressing dysregulated glucose levels early is critical, as insulin resistance has been strongly linked to impaired brain energy metabolism and is increasingly associated with Alzheimer’s disease, sometimes referred to as ‘type 3 diabetes.’ Using a personalised approach and identifying and correcting these imbalances at an early stage, functional medicine supports metabolic stability and helps reduce the risk of progressive complications before irreversible damage occurs.

Many clients reversed prediabetes / type 2 diabetes

I have an excellent track record in helping clients reverse their prediabetes / type 2 diabetes. Read this BLOGPOST about a case study of an overweight client with prediabetes and how using a science-based personalised approach positively changed a wide range of key blood and other anthropometric markers reducing short and long-term risks.
Why is this program for me?
Working with a clinically-trained Nutritional Therapist (NT) can play a pivotal role in improving blood glucose control by providing personalised, evidence-based guidance tailored to your unique biology, lifestyle and health history. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach, an NT helps identify hidden drivers of poor glycaemic regulation such as insulin resistance, dietary imbalances, stress, sleep disruption and micronutrient deficiencies. Through targeted nutritional strategies and sustainable lifestyle support, this approach not only helps stabilise blood sugar levels but also reduces the long-term risk of associated complications such as cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, neuropathy and chronic inflammation, empowering individuals to regain control of their metabolic health and resilience.

Meet your practitioner
Andrew Fortuna studied Nutrition Science (BSc) Hons and Personalised Nutrition (MSc) based on a systems biology approach, a holistic and integrative method used to understand complex biological systems by analysing their interconnected components, rather than studying individual parts in isolation. It involved a deep emphasis on nutritional biochemistry, and the influence of nutrients and food components on cellular and molecular pathways involved in the pathophysiology of a wide range of chronic diseases using evidence-based pathophysiological reasoning. Clinical training, required to meet UK National Occupational Standards, involved being able to apply all this knowledge to four supervised clients experiencing a wide range of chronic health conditions to help ameliorate or prevent disease based on the Functional Medicine Model.
